Google is urging you to buy more storage space to store your files, but another solution is simply to open another Google account and transfer as many of your old files over to that Google Drive space. Then delete them from your main Drive account.
Google doesn’t offer a seamless experience for doing this as they obviously want you to pay to bump up your storage. Making this process easy would just hurt their bottom line. But there is a free method for manually transferring your files to wherever you want them to go, involving the use of Google Takeout.
Google Takeout – Not a Place To Order Your Pizza
Google Takeout is a service that allows users to access their data from any device. This can be helpful for people who want to keep their data organized and accessible. ..
Google Drive is a great way to store your files and keep them safe. You can download all of the data you have entered into Google Drive, move it to another Drive account, or simply keep it on your computer as a backup.
Getting Your Files Out Of Drive Account 1
Then, click on the “Files” tab and select the files you want to move. Finally, click on the “Move to” button and select a new location for your files. ..
Once you’ve done that, go to the Google Takeout page and click “Deselect All.”
Scroll down the page to “Drive” and tick the box to select it.
Under “Multiple Formats”, choose which formats you want your documents to be exported in. Ironically enough, you CANNOT export in Google Office format. This is the only major drawback to doing this. Unless you have a good reason for doing so, I’d suggest leaving it at the default formats Google suggests.
If you only want to select folders, click “All Drive Data Included” and deselect any you don’t want. Please note all files must be in a folder for them to be exported. Any not in a folder will not be moved.
Next, you will need to provide your name and email address in order to continue.
In the next step, you can leave the default options as they are. Your download link will be sent via email and you can download it as a zip archive.
To create an archive, click “Create Archive.” ..
The Drive archive could take hours or even days to get if we’re talking about a lot of data. For my Drive files, the email arrived with a download link in just ten minutes.
After clicking on the “Download archive” button, you will be taken to a Takeout page with a “Download” button. Click that to begin the download of your zip file containing your files.
Putting The Files Into Drive Account 2
If you have an account on a different Drive, you will see the folder structure differently.
Now, in the “Upload a folder” window that pops up, select the folder that you want to upload to your backup Drive account and click on the “Start uploading” button. Once the upload is complete, you will be able to see the new folder in your backup Drive account. ..
Open your exported Drive files and watch them upload to your new Drive account. ..
Microsoft Office files will not be stored in Google’s online storage, but rather in Microsoft’s own files system. This is inconvenient from a storage point of view, as it means that users will have to use Microsoft software to access their office files.
As far as I can see, the only way to convert these Google Docs files to Office format is by right-clicking on each one and doing Open with–>Google Docs. This will switch the format over.
There are a few things you can do to speed up the process of creating a new website:
- Take your time creating the content. This will be the most time-consuming part of your website, and it will help you to avoid making the same mistakes over and over again.
- Use a content management system (CMS) to manage your content. This will make it easier to keep track of who is writing what, and it will also make it easier to update your website regularly.
Deleting The Files From Drive Account 1
If you moved the files to the secondary account for space reasons, it makes sense to delete them from the first account. Remember to also empty the trash bin and you will now have more space appearing for even more files. ..
